Annual Christmas Drive

2007 was the seventh year that the Fort Morgan Police Department helped area senior citizens have a brighter holiday season.  Some of the seniors we help out have little to no income and many have no close relatives.  Most recipients are referrals, but some are people we see in our daily business and routines.

There is a committee of six volunteers - made up of police officers and a police clerk - who organize the collection of food, hygiene items, and monetary donations.  Forty area senior citizens were helped this year (up from 25 the year before) with gift certificates for food from a local supermarket, some nonperishable food, a package of hygiene items, and some “surprises” tucked in their package.

This project would not be possible without the support and assistance of many local businesses and citizens.  A special thank you to Safeway and Wal-Mart for allowing volunteers to collect food outside of their businesses.  The Hillcrest Friendship Club also gave a generous check along with numerous other donations from area citizens.  Thank you to all who contributed to this worthwhile cause.
