Construction Parking Permits

Why a permit?

The purpose of the Construction Parking Permit is to allow contractors to park a trailer or waste container at or in close proximity of the job site in which he/she is working.  A permit is only available if the unit cannot be stored on private property.  This permit allows the contractor to park at this location without the worries of receiving parking citations.

Types of units?

The Construction Parking Permit is for an unattached construction trailer or waste container.  All materials or equipment must be stored within the construction trailer, other than loading or unloading.  No work shall be done on the street or sidewalk areas.  The permit will only be valid for the trailer whose license number appears on the permit or the waste container to which the permit is attached.  The trailer or waste container must be well marked with reflectors (the use of reflective tape is acceptable).  Trailers or waste containers shall be located in close proximity to the job site.  The permit for a construction trailer shall only be valid when the trailer has been detached from the tow vehicle.  All other vehicles shall comply with applicable provisions of the Model Traffic Code for that area.

To obtain a Construction Parking Permit, the contractor needs to come to the City of Fort Morgan, Building Department, located at 710 East Railroad Avenue, Fort Morgan, Colorado.  The contractor must provide proof of Contractor Registration, a copy of the building permit for that address, and the trailer license plate number in order to obtain the permit or identity of the owner of the waste container.

A plot plan of the construction site shall be submitted to the Building Department when the permit is issued.  The plot plan shall include the location of where the trailer or waste container will be sitting on the property and shall remain in the same place unless the Building Department is notified.
